I have seen $10-11 12-pack soft drinks here. That has been the going rate at Kroger now for at least 2 years. :( At Walmart they've been $7-8 per 12-pack for a while, unless you are buying the house brand.
Soda isn't a basic necessity, and I find it hard to justify spending $10 for a 12-pack of soda..

I never buy "packs", I stick to 2-litre bottles. Much more
economical. If I want to carry pop with me, I'll use a 20-ounce
bottle I got from a vending machine and fill that up from the
2-litre. You can get three 20-ouncers with change left over.
...I'd look at my local grocery stores, and they'd have lots of Coke, Cherry coke, Vanilla Coke, caffeine free coke, and an empty space where all of the Diet Coke used to be.
Some grocery prices are getting crazy high. I'm surprised they're selling soda
12-packs for that much. Kroger owns some grocery stores in my area (which were
formerly local chains) and that sounds a bit right - And they're one of the more expensive grocery stores for some things. They also have their own store-brand sodas which tend to be a lot cheaper (I bought a 12-pack of Diet Dr. K from them for $4.50 not too long ago, but the price may have gone up since then). If I buy soda, I've been buying house brand lately since it tends
to be significantly less expensive (what name-brand soda used to cost). Sometimes I'll buy some soda from Costco because I think it's fairly good for
the price.

How's that for irony. What once was avoided by most because of
taste, becomes the item of choice because of price.
Just snaged myself a 24 pack of 12 oz Coke from Smiths (Kroger) for 10.99 I don't buy soda to often but I do like a coke now and then.
Generally I'd prefer Pepsi; I don't really like Coke that much.

Same here. My wife and I both drink Pepsi. No Coke here...

I thought about that when I ordered a diet coke at a restaurant. It came with a lemon wedge. Partly, I'm sure, to make refills easier, but I'm old enough to remember saccharrin sweetened drinks and how off they tasted. The lemon was to mask the off-ness.
I'll just stick to a Fresca.

My wife likes Diet Coke, so we joke around with each other about that. I also like Miracle Whip, and she doesn't.. :P

I like both. Generally I like mayo for sandwiches, but sometimes I use Miracle Whip for making tuna salad (usually mayo though).

What's tuna salad like if you use Miracle Whip instead of mayo?

I would love to try some flavored mayo, spicy mayo!
It has a bit more flavor.
That was the example being discussed. Other items have doubled in price, too, and unlike promised, they've not gone down at all since Biden left office. The only exception here locally is gasoline, which did go back well down before recently going back up higher than when Biden left office.

Every gaming hardware manufacturer started driving prices up like crazy citing "evolving market conditions", tariffs and RAM prices. The issue is prices went up and when the circumpstances that supposedly lead to the increases disappeared, they never normalized down again.
I know you didn't ask me... tuna salad with MW instead of mayo is
too sweet. Makes it taste... funny to me.

there.
Agreed - it tastes like those packaged tuna sandwiches you see at
stations and think "It's been a long time since I've had food
poisoning, I think I'll treat myself..."

Why?
Well sounds like it's not the same thing that we were talking about. Obviously a place that is a huge complex is different from the small
gas station we were making fun of.

I'm always amused by the truck stops along some of the interstate freeways in the US. There's one on the road between San Francisco/San Jose and Los Angeles that has a massive store, with a whole CB radio department, trucker amphetamines and other sketchy pills, a couple of restaurants and a hilarious selection of gifts for the lady back home - cheesy lingerie, cheap champagne and plastic-wrapped cheap roses...

I wonder if truckers still use CB? I do trips along I-80 in California often, don't see as many antennas on trucks anymore. The broadcast nature of CB seems perfect for trucking.
