    Yes... Galactic Dynasty is a good one to check out. fsxNet (Zone 21) that I
    am involved in runs it. The developer is Andrew Pamment.

    Hello Paul,

    I seem to have missed the message you are replying to for some reason.

    I get this area from 153/7715 but I have been having mysterious issues here. I see "too many open files" appear in my error log and it goes downhill from there.

    Hardware/software/config? I'm trying to track it down now. :)

    this year. Are there any in developement currently?

    I am releasing a reboot for MOTOR CITY SOFTWARE commercial BBS doors. We aquired them around 97/98... and now that I have finished developing my own compiler, a node.js like engine, and apache_module for my compiler - I am developing my own mailer, tosser, editor, BBS and doors. Per BBS, I will be releasing many BBSes re-written to my compiler and my coderunner server.

    The challenge for my DOORs so far is - they run either as scripts under coderunner (e.g. standalone server) or a chain calls from my BBS. The chain approach allows the BBS to pass information to the DOOR, the standalone server is what we are currently testing, and mailers/BBSes have no clue how to pass the connection to the door, except to go into a reverse proxy mode and pass a string from the BBS -> DOOR (where is the drop file?) - this is done without echo back to the user, so they do not see how the BBS and DOOR handshake.

    The approach allows one or more BBS servers to use one or more DOOR servers. * Anyone else further down this road than we are? (We being me)... ;-)

    What are the titles for your doorgames?

    Our first release this weekend was BlackJack/21 (works CP437 and UTF8), waiting
    for info on RLogin - then we will update Grubhub.

    So:
    1. BlackJack/21
    2. Battleship
    3. Checkers
    4. Chess (Single User, and Multi-User)
    5. Card Guppies

    8. MCDARTS
    9. MCRACE
    10. MCSPIN
    11. MCSTORY
    12. MCSUB
    13. MCTANK
    14. MCTOUR
    15. MCTRIVIA
    16. MINEFIELD
    17. NOTER (One Liner/Rumors)
    18. Q7
    19. QSLOT
    20. RECON
    21. SWEEPER
    22. THINKER
    23. TICTACTOE

    Utility Doors:
    1. Call Back Verifier (Modem Only)
    2. FREQ Count (FrontDoor Stats)
    3. MCBEST (RA Stats)
    4. MCFILES
    5. MCFREQ
    6. MCMSGS
    7. MCRA2FU
    8. MCTOCK
    9. MCUSAGE
    10. MSG2TEXT and TEXT2MSG
    11. MSGFWD
    12. 5 or 6 RA Utilities, Msg Packer, File Dupe, Security Door.
    13. QBBS/SuperBBS/EleBBS/RA/ User Editor, User Kill, and other Utils.

    So that is the list of what we acquired from them. We also have a few games my team has been desinging - RobotWar (like Mech for the PC), Galaxy-Z and Evolution (both strategy games), TekWar (like Shatner's TV series/books, a tech
    version of mafia wars style game), and others. All of these are being developed
    for our DOOR SERVER (coderunner2). I have also aquired AGT (Adventure Game Toolkit), and have incorporated it into DOOR SERVER, allowing it to run *ALL* v1.7 Text Adventure Games (now called MUDs).

    Once these start rolling out the door, then I work on porting them to Celerity (our DOOR SERVER as a native Apache Module) - e.g. WEB BASED DOOR GAMES!

    HAHAHA! Yeah, we own a restaurant and GrubHub is one of our delivery partners. Wonder if I messed that up on my WikiPedia update yesterday...

    what language was this done?

    This is done in layers ... the script(s) e.g. DOOR, BBS, TOSSER, MAILER all are
    written in my script engine languages - called ModernPascal (http://tutorial.modernpascal.com/)

    The original DOORS were written in Turbo Pascal 7.0 and olders... thus why I wrote my own compiler/script engine. I am 99% backward compatible with Borland's Turbo Pascal 7.0 back to 3.2... excluding my variance on TextFile and
    Binary File calls - everything that is applicable to 32bit and 64bit were implemented. E.g. not MemB[Seg:Off] or FAR, etc.

    These all run as either compiled Turbo Pascal 7.0 Binaries, or as scripts for CodeRunner2 (my Node.JS type of solution, but more focused on Pascal and BBS/Telnet solutions)... CodeRunner2 was written using Modern Pascal 2.0 Commercial Edition - which produces native 32/64bit binaries for Windows, Linux, Mac, and Raspberry Pi.

    And finally, Modern Pascal Interpreter was written using LA-PE (an AST interpreter faster than PHP, Python, Ruby, etc to name a few) and FPC (Free Pascal 2.6.4 up to 3.0.4).

    So in short - PASCAL, but, its a hybrid of Pascal+C... so you can code:

    Begin
    Write('What is your FIRST name: ');
    Ws:=Readln(36); // up to 36 characters, a variance from TP7
    Write('What is your LAST name: ');
    Ws:=Ws+#32+Readln(36-Succ(Length(Ws));
    End;

    or - full MPC syntax:
    Ws:=Ask('What is your FIRST name: ',Space(36), True, 120); // 2min, Blank is
    ok, 36 spaces are reserved - nice when done with ANSI colors!
    Ws+=#32+Ask('What is your LAST name: ',Space(36-Succ(Length(Ws))), False, 120);

    * To make that work both SOCKET and COMMAND LINE, you prefix it with:
    {$IFDEF CODERUNNER}
    With Session do begin
    {$ENDIF}

    ending with:
    {$IFDEF CODERUNNER}
    End;
    {$ENDIF}

    -- what that does is, if the code is running under CODERUNNER, then use the Session Object, otherwise, uses the Display Unit. Both have Write, Writeln, Colors (ANSI, VT*), Keyboard Routines etc. So, I can whip out command line code
    - run it w/o compilation, fix bug, run again, then compile as closed source or release as open source.

    * I have been writing all of this since Feb 2000 in my spare time, and the last
    2 years, almost full-time 7 days a week.

    * Also (last sales pitch, it's FREE for open source projects!), I support PIPE code - a little different than other BBS(es)... |1F is White on Blue. I used PIPEs in both Session and Display as PIPE + Background (0..F) + Foreground (0..F). And I am just weeks away from releasing a DELPHI and LAZARUS ANSI Screen component that "looks like DOS" but supports ANSI for true color Foreground on true color Background. (May port it to C# too). To get an idea WTF can we do with CP437 and $RRGGBB colors goto:
    https://www.gridsagegames.com/rexpaint/ -- watch his animation of the editor... note, his editor is a BITCH to learn... but WOW!

    Oh, and supposedly Windows 10 CMD.EXE supports True Color ANSI also!!

    Yes, all of them support like 12 different drop files... and some get real snug
    with the BBS by reading the actual configuration and user files.

    I guess, I should spend time this week and simply recompile all of the 16bit binaries and see how many will recompile with VPascal and give use 32bit binaries - both of those working with FOSSILs. Some of the doorkit has direct UART support - I am thinking of pulling that out - and just make the original binaries support FOSSIL only - all BBS(es) are using DOSBox or DOSEmu or Boxxer
    - so slap in X00/XU and these will still work. ;-)

    The challenge with MBBS, is getting it to co-exist with my DOOR SERVER, versus my doors are like their mpl, but in my mpl (Modern Pascal Language)... and my .p files expect to work in the same memory space as the current user ... meaning, they have access to variables like Chain.ReadString('USERNAME'); Chain.ReadBoolean('HASUTF8'); etc.

    In MBBS when you state the door is TELNET (I think "IT"?) (a) does it still product door32.sys? or can it? (b) can you in IT mode say:
    CONNECT TO 127.0.0.1 PORT 2301 and SEND ^AC:\MBBS\NODE1\^M

    If so, then we can make the DOOR SERVER co-exist perfectly... it will look in C:\MBBS\NODE1\ for all 12 drop files I support and co-exist as if it was a MBBS
    mpl ;-) ... maybe we can make an .mpl for this?? I am trying to avoid saying - to run my 40+ doors you have to run my bbs product.

    Thanks for any feedback/input!

    Why not use FPC?

    FPC is a binary compiler - and not a framework... where MPC is like .net ut developed by a much smaller company. MPC also leverages some design concepts from Java too. With FPC, write once, compile anywhere... with FPC, write once, run anywhere. My framework allows me to develop desktop apps, MVVM desktop apps, console apps, web RIA, and standalone server - running the same source (compiled or interpreted on every platform I support/host).

    Yes in mid-90's my partners bought out MOTOR CITY SOFTWARE (McSoft), and a few years ago my socket company aquired full AGT IP Rights. Everything has been waiting on me to finish the latest framework for my compiler, and also implementing a GUI protocol to co-exist with ANSI/CP437 and UTF8.

    Right now, I only have the BlackJack/21 from MOTOR CIT SOFTWARE ported and online. Had to switch gears back to the web interface for the MBE (Message Base
    Edgine)... tinkering with port PHPBB v3.2 to work with *.MSG, then I will add JAM, and SQUISH and any other format people ask for. It is going to take a couple weeks, just to get a design understanding of PHPBB source...
