have you checked with the author, michael preslar? i think that's who
has it now... at least that's what the docs for the 4.02 version
say...
Metropolis Gameport is still accepting registrations for LORD 4.07.
Go to:
http://www.gameport.com/bbs/lord.html
They do not offer online registration; you need to fill out and print
the registration form, and mail it with the payment.

When was the last time you checked this? I've heard a few people in
the past couple years have real bad experiences with them. Anything
from not getting back to you when you email them, or as far as having
to void a check because it went a couple months without a registration
or it even being cashed!

See my response to Roger. Metropolis Gameport owns the rights to
LORD, and has a registration form available for downloading on
their website.

This information is listed on their website as of this morning. I
haven't had any contact with them myself in quite a while. I've got
my copy registered and haven't needed to buy any more.
Okay. Their website has said that for years, and will probably continue
to do so. I've heard quite a few bad dealings with them over the past couple years, though.
I also believe that Michael Preslar isn't developing LORD anymore, and hasn't since 4.08 was released. I remember hearing something in the
lines that Gameport screwed him over 1) in his cut for continuing development, and 2) wanted to charge him an outrageous price to buy out the source completely.
After that, he basically disappeared from BBSing altogether.
IMO, they're a squatter. They bought up a bunch of old stuff they have absolutely no interest in in hopes that someone will pay them big bucks for it some day. They will never continue development on it, that's for sure.

I believe I told you about that about a month ago or so as well. I actually got direct confirmation from the lady that owns Metropolis and Gameport that the guy that handles the door game registrations is hella lax about it because "they don't pull in much money".

I think I told you about this as well =) Talked to Mike directly, he hasn't touched LORD in a long time partly because, yeah, they haven't
paid him a royalty check in years now.
Also, it was Jay Hodges, Seth Able Robinson and a couple others that expressed an interest in buying it back but they couldn't ever find who
to contact. Phone calls lead nowhere, emails never got answered. I actually found her on my very first try, talked to her for about 10 minutes about all of it =) When I mentioned they were possibly offering around $3,000 or so, she said "Oh, that seems really low". Rumor has it they paid Seth Able about $10,000 for his games, so I can see her reluctance. But still, $3,000 for something she'll never get close to
over the life of her ownership? Pfft.

ahh... are they the ones that are screwing people, too? there's one
group that, when called on the phone, didn't even know what a door
game was :/
does anyone know if the Legend of the red dragon door
can still be registered is there a site i can go to so that I can obtain a registration key
card online. makes me wonder
