ie: Initialize modem every [01] Minutes
will be helpfull for those using rlfossil.

Nevermind I found Auto Init was off and skipping over it guess because of the computer loading when it gets to the setting above it.

Can change the User manual from Serial redirection over TCP/IP is not supported.

D'Bridge modem support is specifically designed to work with real actual modems... not weird emulated stuff.

Actually im not using Dbridge for all intended purposes.
Its simply acting as a Bridge does a few cool things at the same time.
One: scheduler is awesome way better then Iniquity
Two: modem can be initialized every five minutes Iniquity will do it once in a unknown while.
Three: keeps Iniquity closed until its needed.
and lastly looks way cooler then Iniquity's WFC screen ;)

Also: KatGuard is an awesome feature.
Also: Log is great
Also: Customized the colors to Iniquity theame.

running on an Ebay IBM PS/1 486-40 MB with 8megs ram (included in auction)
has a 512M SSD CF ISA Card and a 3com 509? guess thats right.
The riser card came from Russia (thought that was cool).
Got the case from ebay too its a PS/Value case (so I can use a normal floppy)

I wanted bare metal... um.. oh because Dbridge!

Also: STARFIELD SIMULATION SCREEN SAVER!!
Also: pretty sure the 486-40 would have a tough time with windows. 3.0 might work but thats not even a real multitasker.

The original plan was to use a PS/2 model 30 (286-10) on OS/2 but yeah im not that much into pain. Plus screw that Dallas Clock Chip & the price would tripple.

I can't remember if you wrote back if you were able to load a lot of that DOS stuff into high-memory or EMS... as in, allocate some EMS pages with EMM386
and SET DBOVREMS=Y.

Windows 3.1 or 3.11 for Workgroups (I forget)... should be better than 3.0.

I switched to D'Bridge from Binkley in ... pffttt ... 1988 I think and it was love at first sight. Dropped Binkley instantly with all due respect to Hartman and Periello, both were here at my place and are cool guys.

I was laughed at many times, especially by the JoHo-groupies. They are gone. So is JoHo. He came back a short time as an independant node but Frontdoor didn't materialize as IP-capable, D'Bridge did.

As said before, it's being maintained by someone who's very approachable and is a nice guy, even if his wording sometimes is direct ...

Understood I could be hosting this thing from a Win10/32 machine using Synchronet as usual and its no disrespect to Rob Swindel or anything but this is just WAY cooler. In fact I use Synchronet to power my RG board over at the VPS and swear up and down by it.

Well Nick has been helpful in configuring this thing. Has also helped in the past with setting up stuff over at the RG board. Still needs to finish helping with the Fido setup :D but that stuff is still on there likely mostly configured just a matter of revisiting it after years and years.

loading up DB as sending the signal direct to the comport doesn't work
without the FOSSIL magic.

I started with Binkley on an Atari STe (no HDD everything was loaded on RAM drive from a floppy) and a 2400bps w/o MNP Hyundai modem.
After almost a year of mocking from the other Fido members I strayed and purchased a 386DX/40 with 200Mb HDD. Needless to say that the HDD was faster the the RAM drive. I used FD Multiline paid version (smuggled some Deutsch Marks in envelope to someone in Austria if I recall correctly).


Now I think we all owe Nick a case of Belgian beers...:)

Somehow im picturing a menu option under utilites again "port D'B to Linux"
and when you hit it it asks you are you sure? you hit yes and it reboots your crappy windows box into linux and compiles DB in then after exporting all
your windows settings and somehow implementing them back onto linux perfectly has a final note that then drops you to /home/usr/db4l and reports ok done hit DB to run DB.
