• Problem With Dbridge

    From C.G. Learn@1:275/93 to All on Sun Feb 26 13:15:30 2017
Trying to switch from IREX to Dberdge, and having issues. Downloaded
D'Bridge 3.99/SR11 Standard Edition to my windows 7 machine. I have Dbridge configured to use Port 24557, but when I try to start binkd as a service, it won't start, so I tried to start it in a window to try to see what was going on, and got the following message

    C:\GAP\PROGRAMS\DBRIDGE>binkdwin -c dbridge.bnk
? 13:08 [3784] 24557: incorrect port (getaddrinfo: Either the application has not called WSAStartup, or WSAStartup failed. )
    13:08 [3784] dbridge.bnk: line 31: error in configuration files
    ? 13:08 [3784] 24557: bad port number
    ! 13:08 [3784] error in configuration, aborting

I don't understand, as IREX uses port 24557 fine. What am I missing here. Please don't say use port 24554, as I'm using that for the other fido address I have with Radius.

    Thanks In Advance

you have to shut IREX down to use 24557... you can pick another one for your dBridge/binkd combo to use until you take IREX down all the way... even then you don't have to change the port back... just remember to port forward the one
and remove the other when it is no longer in use...

Welcome back! I don't have an answer for you yet, but I believe the answer you
are looking for would be in the Internet/BinkD setup window where you may assign ports to different nodes.

When specifying custom ports with D'Bridge, if you receive the following error message, this is caused by incorrect TCP stack (Winsock) binding on some versions of Windows, and possibly some versions of Windows with Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 runtime libraries installed.

    C:\GAP\PROGRAMS\DBRIDGE>binkdwin -c dbridge.bnk
? 13:08 [3784] 24557: incorrect port (getaddrinfo: Either the application h not called WSAStartup, or WSAStartup failed. )

The version of BinkD that fixes this problem is:

    binkd11a95-mingw32-ipv6-perldl-zlib.zip from http://download.binkd.org/win/

Download this file and extract the executable. Replace BINKDWIN.EXE in your DB directory and restart D'Bridge, reconfiguring for the correct port. The problem is now resolved and the system runs normally.

I will be conducting further tests and possibly issuing SR12 for this problem.

Are you sure that IREX isn't still running in the background? If IREX has already bound to port 24557, then BinkD won't be able to use it.

Cool, thanks for investigating that. I ran into that same problem on my Hub instance of D'Bridge since it uses a non-standard port.
