    G'day Peter!

As I read our title "Thought Police in Britain" I am thinking of movies, and it is so strange to read this, and know on a
whim, one can be picked up.... like 1984 coming or here.

Thank you, I would be interested in his reply.

Ok Will let you know when he reads it, and a reply. Perhaps he
will grace us with his appearance here. Warning, we don't get
along, so our debates can be hot ones <g>.

OK ... he might play the ball & not the man

It is (or was) an advertising campaign, and a number of US cities
have "Why Islam?" adverts promoting islam as a "religion of peace".
It puts the bus company in a quandary - do they censor such things,
or allow them as free speech, and in the case of the British buses
there were objections from some drivers over being assigned to drive
    buses which contradicted their faith.

Interesting. Also a note that Islam is the fastest growing with
converts everyday. I wonder what they convert to?

Some interesting claims made about Islam are that everyone is born
muslim ("pure"), but are led astray by their Christian / Jewish /
Atheist parents, and "revert" to Islam, rather than "convert" to it.
This is a fairly common claim. (Search on revert islam to find
    relevant sites, if interested)

Obviously this is not a biblically based claim, and the "numbers game"
of converts / reverts to Islam bears out the prophecy of the great
falling away (apostasy) that precedes the revealing of the man of lawlessness (Antichrist) described in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12.

Britain is accommodating its muslim minority, while repressing its (professing) Christian majority - banning "Saint George" parades,
renaming Christmas as Winterval, serving halal food to all children
in some schools, not having "piggy banks" in bank branches because
it "offends" the minority, and so on.

Oh yes, I heard about the "St. George" bans too. All the rest as
so not to offend, but it is only fundalmentals getting all this
stuff going, all my friends different faiths, and all, I get or
try to get along with them all, wishing them the best at their
    holidays and special days.

Looks like I'll be going to jail, because I still celebrate
    christmas.

It may literally come to "Merry Christmas, and off with your head"
as the conspiracy against God and his only begotten Son comes to
    its climax.

    Cheers, Steve..

Thought police muscle up in Britain

    Hal G. P. Colebatch | April 21, 2009

BRITAIN appears to be evolving into the first modern soft totalitarian
state. As a sometime teacher of political science and international law,
I do not use the term totalitarian loosely.

There are no concentration camps or gulags but there are thought police
with unprecedented powers to dictate ways of thinking and sniff out heresy, and there can be harsh punishments for dissent.

Nikolai Bukharin claimed one of the Bolshevik Revolution's principal tasks
was "to alter people's actual psychology". Britain is not Bolshevik, but a campaign to alter people's psychology and create a new Homo britannicus is under way without even a fig leaf of disguise.

The Government is pushing ahead with legislation that will criminalise

    G'day back to you Steve.,

If you lived near New Albany... I'd have you look up a friend
of mine, and ..and...well you would have some time laughing
over what goes on between here, there and a few more spots
    on the globe...

Well you are in luck, as David's reply is at the bottom, and he
likes long postings, and it is in depth, as his job required it.

OK ... he might play the ball & not the man

Not sure. He'll have to clear that one up, but I will send
him my program which is Qmodem and Blue Wave for the offline
    reading.

Never seen the "Why Islam?" but I have heard it is the fasting growing.
    OOOPS I said that before....

Oh ok ... never realized it that way.

What is the big beef about having a piggy bank? I have one...

    Hi Peter,

Hope you've had a nice weekend.

Thanks for the link to the article on "broken Britain".

Yes, that's petty much how it is.

The rot set in with Blair - one new law for every day he was in office.
Our electoral system is a mess and just induces apathy.
IE: At the last General election, 52% of voters didn't even bother to
vote. Of those that did, here's how they voted, and what we actually
    got in the government:

How we voted What we got in MPs in parliament

    Labour 35% 55.7%
    Conservative 32.3% 30.7%
    Liberal 22% 9.6%
    Others 10.5% 4.6%

So out of every 100 voters, only 48 bothered to vote. Of those that
did vote, 35% - 17, voted for Blair's part. So we ended up with
Tony Blair (apologist for, and supporter of US war crimes and torture)
when 93% of the electorate didn't vote for him.

He became so unpopular that his own party booted him out, and put
Gordon Brown in his place without an election. Brown was too scared
