No, that was pretty much it for that episode. There's been

Nothing worthy there. The search/transcript feature is
interesting though. No hits for "fidonet", but 3 results for
"fido net". That tech has a long way to go before it is useful
for finding relevant text in a podcast.

I used to listen to the No Agenda podcast more regularly in the
past. But I stopped when it seemed you never knew what they
would end up talking about. 1hr+ to 2hrs is a bit too long for
a stream of conciousness chit chat. <g>

There is far more relevant "Fidonet remembered.." content in a
couple of recent books that I've mentioned in a few other
echos.

But it was remembered poorly; they spoke of it as in the past
tense. Fidonet not might be the bustling network that it used
to be, but does Fidonet still need to be referred to in the
past tense all the time? They didn't shed any knowledgable
light that a modicum of it still exists and is supported by
many BBSes.

Anyone discussing Fidonet shouldn't be referring to it in the
past tense and should provide the resources to identify
operating BBSes, the tools required for either a sysop or a
user, etc.

Yeah.. It seems that anyone who may have attained any kind of
media status, seems to have little to nothing to say about
Fidonet today. Leo Laporte (of TWiT podcast fame) seems to
have had a Fidonet node for a couple of years 1986-1988 only.

There have been some documentary efforts, we should really
start capturing more of our history. Sysops have been
passing away for some time.

The book Modem World - A Prehistory of Social Media - by Kevin
Driscoll, does a fine job analysing and presenting the matrix
of online development including a modicum of reference to
Fidonet and how, where and when it fit in the timeline of
things.

Isn't there a wiki page about Fidonet that seems to be the
"documentary efforts" that you speak of?

Perhaps there could be a better effort to announce that the
Fidonet universe is still alive and kicking and *not* be spoken
of in the past-tense all the time when someone "reviews"
Fidonet.
