I haven't been paying much attention to this, but is your Internet

    connection dialed or permanent?

    Hi Jerry,

It's an ADSL connection and I finally got the script working a bit better.

I figured it out. I use: ftp -i -s:net.scr It still needs some
    tweaking, but
    it's working.

Be careful. There is no particular standard for handling errors in the command-line version of ftp. I don't know if it sets errorlevels, for example; the UNIX version does NOT.

    Hello Howard!

Have you considered Internet Rex? Been using it for a couple of years now without problems. Not sure of current version, but I'm using v2.28a.
It supports FTP, BinkP, Ident, SMTP, POP3, Finger, and serves up a mean casserole if time permits.<g>
