• Binkd Feature Request

From Ray Quinn@1:214/22 to All on Sat Apr 29 20:04:00 2017
How difficult would it be to add a file request option to binkd?

    binkd -R 12:345/678 filename /path/to/binkd.conf

I know how to do it manualy, but that requires me to figure out the HEX of
    an address.

You can use Fred Riccio's FREQ-U utility for BINKD File requests, I use it here
on my BINKD node (filegate.net:24554) because BBBS/Li running on my port 24555 doesn't support freqs internally. You supply an Okfiles.txt showing the locations of your files, and FREQ-U takes care of the requests.

There is a windows version and a linux version. As far as I know, the MAC version remains untested but folks needing that version can contact Fred Riccio. Here are the descriptions of the Linux and Windows versions and their respective locations via the web if you want to give them a try:

The utility Janis mentions is for receiving & prorocessing FREQs. From re-reading your question, it appears that you want something to send the request, so FREQ-U won't be of any use to you. I use an old-school DOS/Win command line program called Please. It will work with any mailer that uses BSO
(like BinkD). Available from here (see origin line) by WaZoo file request as PLEZ210.Zip

    How it works...
From the command line, just type "Please get <filename> from <fido address>"

You'll have to build a trimmed down version of the BinkleyTerm control file, but it isn't too tough to do, and there is a sample file in the archive.

You have to ask Fred :) AFAIK, he hasn't put the Mac version out anywhere. I'm
sure he will be happy to send you the Mac version if you ask him.

    Take care,
