    Run on a different port?
Use a redirection service (tzo.com) to get traffic to an open port.

Is there any way around this ?

Well one way around that would be to put it on a different port than 23, other than that and good luck on this one would be to some how get msn to stop blocking port 23 on his modem.

Try the DOS_INTERNET echo or several others.
If you need assistance finding one of those, let me know,

Install COM/IP set it for a port other than 23, like 60177 thats what
the alternate is for Fidonet Telnet Ports, then connect to it with
60177 as the port and it should work Great !

Is there something like this for a bbs running under Msdos
with a packet driver? I don't run Ms=Windows but I do run Linux. I am
asking as I want to run msdos doors in real MSDOS on their own
computer after I pass the dropfile via NFS to the computer.
You didn't mention if this COM/IP is Windows specific or
    where one can research it.
I may even use one of my boxes to run Maximus or Even Opus
1.73a if there are any y2k patches for it.

I assume you meant `PC-NFS' when you wrote "NFS", or maybe not, but
    that doesn't matter because i can't say a thing about passing drop-files
with it anyway. Here's what i do know about ~TelNet~ "shims" equivalent
to `COM/IP' but for DOS. It's old, you may have a hard time finding it:

    ****************************************[ `VA210.ZIP' - `File_Id.DIZ' ]* Virtual Advanced Ver 2.10 (for DOS)

Complete Electronic Bulletin Board System, Internet UUCP Server, FIDO
Server, SLIP/CSLIP/PPP Server and much much more all wrapped up in one powerful, easy to use and easy to set-up and customize package.

Everything you need to get started is included, and the shareware
registration fee is well within everyone's budget. Optional TCP/IP
SMTP, POP3, NNTP, WebServer, FingerServer, IRC, etc. add-on package
available that integrates a live Internet feed with the BBS. Virtual

    *************************************[ `PPPBB301.ZIP' - `File_Id.DIZ' ]*
    PPPBBS Version 3.01

Awesome new TCP/IP-based BBS program with many advanced capabilities.
Designed to let anyone operate as a complete, small-scale Internet
Service Provider, with a minimum of expense. PPPBBS can connect to the Internet a variety of different ways: PPP Dial-Up, PPP over ISDN, or
Ethernet. Does not require "dedicated" Internet access, a static IP
address, or even that you "own" a range of IP addresses. Can even
"gate" a PPP feed to your Ethernet LAN.

Built-in: Multiuser PPP Internet Network Access Server, Web Server, FTP Server, Telnet Server, Ident Server, SMTP Server, POP3 Server, SMTP
Client, POP3 Client, DYNDNS.COM Client, Multi-User BBS, Mail Processor
With Universal Mailbox Support, and much, much more. Multitasker NOT
required. NOT a proxy server. Extremely configurable. MUST DOWNLOAD. Official Web Site: www.degraaf.net BBS: 616-399-4818

I'd try the former `PC-Micro' ~WEB~ site, this can be great reading
to have even if one doesn't intend to us it. At least that's an answer!

`RLFossil.ZIP' seems to be everywhere, the original post from which
it was published (around 1995) could still be found on INet a few months
ago. The author was sporadically available during summer of 2002, after
years of frustration i finally succeded to reach him via ~E-Mail~ but he disapeared once again when i began asking questions. For all i know, it
seems no source-code for such SoftWare is available but, in case someone
cares, this is what i had before i lost contact with Andrey Sapozhnikov:

    `RLFossil's author's address: sapa@icb.chel.su
    `FidoNet' address: 2:5030/1082.72
    Physical location: Georgetown, St-Petersburg
Last seen publicly in: `fido7.ru.perl' NewsGroup

I'm an `RLFossil' user myself and have been for quite a while but i
only use it for OutBound ~TelNet~ connections (made with `{Commo}', `MS- Kermit', `Anzio' as a terminal emulator, etc.); i'm no SysOp, i've read
that InBound calls can be passed to regular ~FOSSIL~ BBS SoftWare but it
could be a problem too (something about the result code, as i recall)...

Too bad this nice DOS utility isn't going to be upgraded ever, what
you see is what you get unless you can persuade the author to resume his
work. I doubt he'd agree, i failed when suggesting that he could donate
his source-code: he didn't care to reply. Perhaps a feminine touch?...

    ;-)

In any case, if you could switch to something like `OS/2' instead i
know that Mark Lewis appears to be pretty satisfied with it and maybe it
could be a good idea to ask for comments; think of him as of a friendly
SysOp. When you're free, if you've got spare time to spend for external file-transfer protocols i'd be honoured that you remember me: i've done
all i could to promote the use of `MS-Kermit' but i faced indifference & mockery more than anything else, the last time i tried... I keep hoping
that a time may come when someone will want to cooperate with me so that justice is done to `Kermit', after two decades of pre-conceptions. If i
made you curious about what `Kermit' can do for BBSing, just lets say it
is the Royal way for a LEGACY DOS BBSer to move .QWK/.REP and .ZIP files
back and forth using bare minimum ressources; if *UNIVERSALITY* rings a
bell please put me in your contact list and give me a sign when ready!!!
