• DUAL SOFTWARE SETUP 2/2

    (Continued from previous message)

There are some addons where you can get that for sending email
(depending on the software), but I mainly have the email setup for
sending the New User Email Verification string...and really don't
encourage users to use the email on the BBS.

I miss the thrill of 'making it mine'. I wasn't too creative when it came to M>doing that but the journey was always enjoyable.

I did all my ANSI screeens by hand...my ANSI and HTML knowledge are
both VERY BASIC. I can write a batchfile for the BBS, but my programming
ENDS at setting the clock on the microwave oven. :P

Will you run both's telnet servers? If so, you could run one on on the defaul M>port (23) and the other on (24). Or, if Synchronet supports SSH, only enable M>for it.

I hadn't thought of that. I just got a new router, with additional
ports, so I might look into that, once I get things all set up and
configured. I still have a lot of work to do on the Synchronet setup,
but I can still run VADV32 in the foreground while I do the SBBS work in
    the background.

One of the softwares I previously ran was RBBS. If I do go on this 'kick' I M>would like to setup some of the other popular softwares of the time as a 'doo M>for people to experience nostalgia.

There isn't much BBS software still supported, shareware or freeware.
But, at least there is some still out there.

The internet transion happened so quickly that I can't recall users on my system in the past ever expressing an internet in e-mail.

I do like the 'new' era of open source. I can make modifications to the code or script in tools to enhance what is already there.

    Regards,

    Matt
