    It's a very old flat-file database program. I'm pretty sure I used to use the MS-DOS version of this long ago.

    Filemaker is/was a simple database put out originally for Mac, but eventually made cross-platform. It let you drag and drop fields and was multi-user. When they first started out, Filemaker needed a copy on each client PC. Later, they added a web component, so you could hit the filemaker server with a web browser.

    It was easy to use but didn't scale well, so lots of user departments would throw a quick DB together, then complain to IT when it fell over after too many users.

    I have a friend who was a Filemaker consultant, one of his biggest clients was Oracle. Don't tell anyone.
