• Polling a Node?

From Jeff Smith@1:282/1031 to All on Fri Feb 2 21:37:28 2018
    Hello There,

I have noticed a situation regarding polling that I was curious about. I have setup a system on another PC here. I have added the necessary [Node Remap] connection info.

The problem is that if I do a manual poll as in Alt-P the poll is executed as expected. Once completed it is executed again, and again, and again,...

I am forced to terminate the poll by issuing the command bbbs bom d <Address>. At which point the polling terminates.

The question that occurs to me is BBBS is possibly not seeing the poll as successful and continues to keep trying. Or, the polled system isn't responding
in a manner that BBBS sees as successful and so BBBS retries.

Anyone else seen this type of behavior?

It happens here once in a while... not that often. It happens to my bbbs mailer when it cannot complete the transfer. Typically it is because of some problem with the node bbbs is trying to dial - it could be any one of the following:

#The node bbbs is trying to dial has it's own problems and needs to
be reset by the sysop... [often]
#There was some typo in external.bbb's remap section [ok, I'm not perfect <g>]

    Hope this helps :)

    Take care,
    Janis

Its a bit like the way some in Fido who consider themselves `the elite' of Fidonet treat others.

It happens here once in a while... not that often.

They are mainly supportive of the political/criminal class (Hillary Clinton, Hussein Obama, Eric holder, James Comey....etc etc...) and try their best to make it difficult for those they despise (like me, for instance).

    It happens to my bbbs
mailer when it cannot complete the transfer.

They habitually ignore facts presented to them, label any and all rebuttal by their targets-of-hate with low-ball insults and put-downs, and just generally parade their self-righteousness in grand style for their mutual mental- masturbatory release and entertainment.

And when facts and proofs are presented, which serve to rub their noses in their own stupidities, they have developed the habit of sniping at the targets of their mutual hatred from the safety of echoes the said targets are barred from either participating in or reading at all.

    Typically it is because of
some problem with the node bbbs is trying to dial - it could be any one of JK>the following:

Sometimes they even throw out into the mix of fido echoes false accusations of the most low sort, un-apologetically leaving an impression of their target-of- the-moment's character that reflects badly on that person.

#The node bbbs is trying to dial has it's own problems and needs to
be reset by the sysop... [often]

    <g>] Hope this helps :)

If I may inquire. How does your response relate to the subject of my post? Besides, your response does not relate to the functionality of BBBS in any way.
Might I suggest that there are more appropriate places to express such opinions.

    No response necessary.
