• Weekly Tank Maintenance 07-03-10

From Jeff Snyder@1:345/3777 to All on Sat Jul 3 15:20:00 2010
Today I conducted my weekly maintenance -- a few days late, actually --
which consisted of a 20-gallon water change, cleaning the sponge filters in
the two Penguin 330 Bio-Wheel filters, dusting the rocks and stirring up the sand substrate, and cleaning the glass panes.

Mama Mbuna has been in hiding since spawning a few days ago, although I just got a peek at her after conducting the water change. Bully Boy chased her,
and then she quickly disappeared again.

My younger nameless female continues to hold her first spawn as well.

The third youngest female appears to have lost all of her eggs.

As I said before, sometimes it appears to take a few spawns before the young females get it right and learn how to incubate their eggs to full
    development and finall fry release.

The tank is looking nice, and I'm getting a new crop of fresh green algae, which the mbunas will enjoy munching on.

That's about it for now. Until next time.
