Hello everyone. This is just a short update to try to keep this echo alive.

It's been about a week now since I moved my four-foot aquarium to my bedroom and set it up. Things are progressing nicely. The water is now clear, and I am still waiting for the tank to age a bit, and for some beneficial bacteria to start colonizing the substrate, rocks and filters, before I introduce some livestock. I am, of course, in no hurry to do this; after all, the aquarium
has been down for several years, and a few more days or weeks won't make much of a difference. I'll just appreciate it more when I finally have some fish in there.

In the mean time, if anyone else is still visiting this echo, it would certainly be nice to hear from you. There are too many inactive echoes these days, and it is rather disappointing.

Actually, I do a lot of talking to my new fishies. These Electric Blue
Johannis are quite the manipulators. Being as the aquarium is just to the left of my elbow, they have my full attention as I sit here and type at my
computer. They are quite demanding, and let me know in clear terms exactly
when they want to be fed, particularly the dominant male. He will come right
up to the glass, and do his posturing movements in the sand as if to say "Hey! You! Human! What's the matter? Can't you see that we want to be fed again?!"

Normally, each of the five will maintain their own position in the tank, in their own little cave, but once the feeding antics begin, they will all group together in a school and dance around in expectation, just waiting for me
to give in to their pleas...and I usually do.

I'd like to say that I have them eating out of my hand, but I think it is really the other way around. :)

They are gorgeous active little fish though, and I am glad that I got them.
Now that they have settled in, I am suspecting that I got two males and three females, going by their behavior and color differences. The females are a lighter blue it seems.
