• Aquarium on the computer desk

From Sean Dennis@1:18/200 to All on Thu Sep 29 09:50:42 2005
    Hello, All!

I have a rather silly question, but it's a concern I have-is it safe to put my fish next to my computer monitor? I've enough room to do so (and I can plug in
their air pump into my UPS too :) and it's a solid place to put the aquarium, but I'm wondering if any radiation from the CRT or anything could hurt them (the Incredible Tetra kind of thing <G>).

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    Later,
    Sean

Ionizing Radiation in general is bad for ALL living things, which is what can leak from Hi voltage devices like a CRT. I would think the old addage like my mom used to say "don't sit too close" applies. The lesser EMF field can be measured up to a foot from most devices, so I would think 18-24" clearance would be a safe bet.

Now if you wake up one morning and one of your fishies says "hello", don't blame me <chuckle>.
