so that I can connect to some game servers.

RLOGIN is not available in WINServer yet. I have it on the feature request list
I am preparing for Hector to send to him on Friday, if not before.

The there should be a PXWINS-SETUP.EXE or something like that in your

Here is the latest I have:

Yeah, but it's difficult when you get nothing but a blank screen on connect.

So, I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about.... I know that you have tested out a few BBS packages... but if I can say something that might
already be known. Both Mystic and Synchronet have an automated. I can
control whether the BBS reads the handle or the real name... either way, the host RLogin BBS is reading info from the BBS trying to login. I can recall from playing with Mystic BBS that I can play with the Rlogin command line to get the user to get the user to login with the Handle....

So, all we need to do is to get WINS to do the same. If Hector cold make outbound calls pass info so that it may be compatible to the automated
connect. I know this may not be something Hector's interested in that... he's more focused on his commercial clients than he his about hobby BBS goers.

I was just reading, and downloaded, but not used yet a file that will do the trick... Anyway.... I logged on to his BBS and "used" the program. It seems
to work. I don't have a copy of WINS running, I will put it up after I move and I'll play with it then. From what I can tell he had a wcx file connect

Not exactly. The BSD Rlogin protocol as originally/officially defined does not send a password and the terminal/user is expected to be authenticated so long as the username is valid. Contrast that with Telnet where there is no expectation that the terminal/user is authenticated without providing complete and valid credentials (e.g. username *and* password).

Robert do you use WINS to poll any qwk mail??

Exclusively. If it's from a Synchronet system, that is what I use
    wcQWKnet for.

Is that a utility you made?? I use to use wcqwk and it worked okay... never had a problem with it. I have forgot how I made it run. I need
to figure out how to get a cfg file to poll vert.

Um, yeah, it's something I started with Deam Brooks back in 2014. From the version history:

    // Release History
    // ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------
// Version 1.0 - Feb 2014 - Code built based on the ftp client that comes with Wildcat!
// Based on source code from the wcCODE Plus Pack.

We are talking specifically with WINServer. Yes, it is fairly easy -- if you want to write batch files and script the Windows FTP.EXE client. wcQWKnet
does all that using WINServer's only FTP client code. wcQWKnet is bascially the QWKNET script for Synchronet ported over to WINServer.

Not a problem :) Yeah, I got tired of having to deal with batch files so I wrote wcQWKnet to handle the polling, tossing, etc using WINServer's own internal code. It actually works out quite well and a number of people use
it. Especially since I have made it a free product now :)

I'm getting ready to put Winserver back up as well as soon as i sort some things out..

Very cool! If you are interested, I can get you hooked up to WINSnet and XpressNet :)

hey Robert, Are you using PX as front end or are you doing something similar
to me I run irex and PX people say it will eliminate like Irex? As for
Winsnet and xpressnet that will be fine as long as I dont need to poll them right away It seems when my system upgraded to 7 and new PX alot of my stuff was missing and I havent found my backup yet to see what I need to do to correct it. its been over a year since I messed with WC
    Thanks Sam

I use Internet ReX for binkp between my system and other systems that are not mailer-over-telnet capable. BINKP is still not built into PX yet, and at this point I doubt it ever will be. When you upgraded to the new PX, you probably did not tell it to upgrade only so the files were overwritten. That was fixed in the installer with the latest PX/WINS 7 update.

Yeah, I found it easier to do it with WINS' internal FTP code through a configurable WCX than through a batch file.

OMG, this is an old old message...

I tried that in the past and couldn't get it to work... I run/ran a batch file using iFTP as a client to do QWK, works fine. U think Hector would have done something internal, it would have been nothing for him to do.

I agree. Yeah, I have been thinking about giving iFTP a try, but with wcQWKnet
4.0 about to be released, I would like that to be tested more before I make that commitment.

Hector Santos made QWK via FTP available on the Server side of Wildcat!
    more than ten years ago.

I am retired now, but I ran QWK/FTP for my small business for several
years with customers using various FTP Clients.

It has to be manually setup and configured and there is more than one
approach that can be used. In a nutshell its not there by default!

I recall it being discussed in the Santronics Mailing Lists from time
to time so if anyone is interested on the server side setup they could
    ask via the SSI list

    Best Wishes

So where is it documented? Plus I don't think it's done quite the same
way as Synchronet and Mystic do it to where the QWK packet is always "available" for downloading in the root directory of the FTP server.
