Sure - but most of us write the code that interests ourselves. If you want someone to do something they're not interested in, you usually have to pay them.

Why don't you simply start to tell us what this piece
of code that you want to have ported is about?

i thought i had... sorry if i didn't... here's my original post and i'll add some clarification as well...

i'm looking for someone to port a small application to OS2... i'd prefer someone with EMX 0.9d fix3 (maybe fix4 now that it is released)... i'm just not
up on my C and the porting issues involved but as this is a small app, i don't think it'll take much time... once the port is complete, the diffs will be sent
to the originator for inclusion in further releases... makefile, configure script, and source modifications are all needed, i'm sure... if for nothing else than to add OS2 to the OS lists in the defines and other areas... by small
package, the original tar.gz is only 37k and the tarball is only ~189k... most of the package is docs and specs... only like ten or eleven .h and .c files altogether...

the app is a dynamic dns updater for dynip.com, the static domain name provider
i use... the app is pretty straight forward... it runs all the time and sends regular messages to the dns server of dynip.com based on their protocol (included in the docs)... it should be a fairly straight forward port... nothing fancy that i can see in the code... reading the porting info in EMX points to a few things that might possibly need to be handled but all straight forward from what i can see... the main thing holding me back is knowing where to put in and needed ifdefs for os/2 and adding the os/2 specifics to the make file... not to mention the inability of running the configure script in the first place...

i don't have perl 5 installed but i have been looking for the apache mod_perl addon... precompiled if i can find it... no luck in all the digging and rooting
    i've done...

However, mine doesn't "run all the time", I
scheduled it with cron to run once an hour.

if this service would accept that, it would be good... but they require a pkt at least once every 10 minutes on port 53 according to the protocol description
i have here, and two other ports for additional communications if there need be
    any...

hack, i could probably whip something up in pascal if i had a tcp/ip library for turbo/borland pascal... i haven't yet gotten any native os/2 pascal... just
not enough time any more these days ;-(

Ah, that one I missed. Why not using ddup? Does
it not work with your dyndns provider?

right... that i can tell, dyndns.com uses a different method of notification and communication than dynip.com... dynip.com purports to heve been the first dynamic dns - static domain provider... and they still provide subdomains in their domain where none of the remaining others do...

Yes indeedy. In fact, I've decided to write a tool for doing
this very thing, but I'd certainly like to see how others have

yes, looks that way, eh? i just thought it unusual being as i'm part of the backbone riding second tier... it didn't even dawn on me that messages might not be making it to the backbone <G>

Looks like a good turn-round from the new arrangements
which have settled into place with the closures in Z1
and resignations in R25. JohnS closure won't affect your
communications to here, they don't go through his board
    any more anyway.

so i see by your path line...

in any case, i'm still looking for someone to assist with that 'port'... if i knew makefiles, i know i could do it... probably still could... doesn't appear that much if anything needs to change in the code... at minimum, i see possibly
adding ifdefs to get the thing to compile but...

i'm gonna try to get back on that box and see what i can compile manually... just gotta find the time...
