ok i have finished the tiki bar. in it you can ask me to recite a poem, talk to trader sam or converse with the people in the game. working on lord colors as well as pipe in it. by the time you read this it will be implemented. you will only be able to ask for a poem a day soon and also now that im done with the tiki bar i am gonna add maintenance to be ran on the first play of the day to update players daily fights etc....

after that i will start work work on armor and shields aka buy and sell.
still looking for ansi artist to help enhance the look. come play and see how
i have it set up.

choose to run maint from a batch file rather than automatic when the first player enters. I don't play a lot of games but it's still a pita.

then you have to be at your computer every night at midnight. this is called automating and this is how you reset your fights for the day and bring people back from the dead.

your BBS doesn't have an automated scheduler that can run BAT files? mine does and always has... my mailer, frontdoor, actually exits all nodes at midnight (or whenever scheduled) and drops to the main controller BAT file which then executes the midnight maint...

this is called automating and this is how you reset your fights for
the day and bring people back from the dead.

that's easily done by providing a command line parameter to execute it at will instead of waiting until some user decides to play which may be days or weeks later... all of my TW2002 games, for example, run their maint every night whether i'm here or not... they rebuild the ports that have been robbed and increase the NCPs all on their own... even my netrunner cyberpunk door refreshes and rebuilds on its own every night during midnight maint...

why belittle an MPL? it is just as strong and powerful as other languages... shoot, i've got 4DOS/4OS2 scripts (aka BAT files) that do exactly that type of thing saving the last run date/time and comparing it with the current date/time
to see if they can actually perform their work or if they have been called too soon... but whatever...

i do recall there being a way... we can jump from the editor into the bbs running the script without having to do the whole sign-in and go through all the normal login steps... it seems to me that that same method can be used to run a MPL door maint session, too ;)

notice Seth never made one for LoRD it did it when you entered the game so
it could reset the igms and update player file for a new day. its not like
it takes forever like in usurper lol

i guess it's a coders preoperative. it only take 3 seconds to run for me, so
i don't see why i should. not all sysops do a bbs maintenance
