now that im done with the tiki bar i am gonna add maintenance to be
ran on the first play of the day to update players daily fights
etc....
why do they do this? maint on the first run of the day? why not just let the sysop run the maint every day no matter if there have been players
why do they do this? maint on the first run of the day? why not just let the sysop run the maint every day no matter if there have been players playing or not? they can run it at midnight (or whenever) when they run their normal BBS maint... i've never understood this in these last 30 years...

first player enters. I don't play a lot of games but it's still a pita.

then you have to be at your computer every night at midnight.
this is called automating and this is how you reset your fights for
the day and bring people back from the dead.

ok then how will this batch file reset a data file with variables?
you're not thinking things through, my friend ;)
because it runs the maint tool for the door or executes the door with a specific option to run the maint... the tool/door keeps up with what day it is and when the maint was last run... it isn't rocket science :)

this is a mpl

dude, why would i do that for an mpl?

All of that I would guess would be the responsibility of the
maintenance program or commandline it's calling. Doesn't necessarily
have to be called from a batch. I guess it's a bit harder with an MPL since it can't be called from Mystic's events so running it the way
you are is probably the only way.

so what? that shouldn't matter in the least...
in any case, i was only asking WHY it is ever done instead of having a specific mode that can be triggered when the BBS maint is run...
not like it takes forever like in usurper lol
