Well looks like I'm going to have to give up ECS again. :(
I'm out of computers, and I need a linux machine for my phone
system.
Any of you linux guys out there know if either MBSE or Synchronet
would compile / run correctly under "Trixbox" which is the distro I
want to use since it's the easist one for the damn phone system.
Never used Syncronet, but MBSE BBS should compile and work with out problems, provided it has a sane init setup ...

Thanks. Will be trying it out this weekend I hope.

That's good news! I'm actually just in the process of grabbing Synchronet from CVS to see if it will work. Then attempt MBSE again, keep running into a weird problem with MBSE not allowing the "bbs"
login. I'll muck about a bit more until I decide between them.
Also spent most of the day configureing the phone system here,
(What a nightmare that was) but now both "real" phone lines, and the Internet line are all working on our IP phones in the house again.
IVR's and voice mail also configured. Need to beat it up tomorrow
to make sure it can handle the volume of phone calls around here
during the week.
I vaugely recall an issue with some distro's not allowing an empty password field awhile back ...
importer/dealers/main principles, whatever work on Saturdays? or is
it just poor buggers like me who work Saturdays ... <sigh>

Fixed that! Now just fighting with Dosemu, and the fido utils. ;)
(Oh and see below)

Only poor buggers like us! I ran a computer store for many years
and if we were out of stock on a Saturday (or friday night) the
customers were screwed until Monday.

Grumble, so far it hangs up on me at exactly 5:30 into a phone call. Nothing in the log files explaining it... Going to spend today with
Grep and log files I guess. <sigh> This is why I sometimes hate opensource, it's just not friendly when your tracking a problem. But
... rather do this then spend $900 on commercial software.
Dosemu and fido utils, dosemu for doors, fido utils for ... ?
Hmmm, sounds awfully like an config option or "feature", so I'd not be suprised if the logs are not helpfull, tho you might get lucky ...
Hoping you find it soon, and that it is easy to fix ...

Dosemu for doors, and just the internal fido programs for tossing fidonet. :)

Busydetect... One I disabled that it seems to work, had a 12 minutes phone call. Unfortunally now the dialout doesn't work right. <G> Oh
well I'm getting there!

right. <G> Oh well I'm getting there!
Yes. I've got it pretty much finished there. Just got DOS doors running too, but they aren't running well. :)
Now everything is working except for
1) Call waiting
2) Call forwarding
3) SIP outbound trunk
So the list is down from 25 items to those 3. <G> I'm sure learning alot about phone systems from this. :)

So that's happened to other pepole then? Not just me?
Frustrating as they /do/ work from launching the mbsedos
program in local mode... /Gotta/ be something easy I'm missing.
Yes, with a much older dosemu, and about 3 years ago, had
LORD/BRE/Trade Wars setup, then I lost my HDD, dosemu went missing
for awhile (no maintainer)(?), and I just never got around to
setting them up again ... , gut says check dosemu settings ...
I do have a question though I've been all over the docs and can't
find the answer. When setting up BinkD where is the outbound
directory?
Where you tell FASTECHO, thats your outbound.

Why you setting up BinkD, MBSE has a perfectly good implementation ...
, thereof ... ;-)
a weird problem with MBSE not allowing the "bbs" login. I'll muck about a bmbse had no problems running for me :)
mbse had no problems running for me :)
synchronet on the other hand wont allow inbound telnet for some reason.
i wounder if its something wrong with sbbs.ini ?
