Subject: My letter to the editor about covid denial.

Covid-19 is real, it's no fairy tale. It can happen to any of us no matter
our politics, our ethnicity, age, religion or sexuality. I know we would all like to go back to the era before the emergence of the virus, but we are
    living in a new era.

Unless we practice good hygiene and safety practices, we will likely see more of our friends and family ill or even dead. I know people want to sing in their religious buildings, but clusters of people got infected when groups of people sung. Wear the mask, when you shop or go to close quarters shared with other people. We need to keep our good habits so we can keep people employed and healthy.

Covid-19 denial is only going to lead us to a road of ruin. I miss the concerts, ball games and other great times we had.

And continued repeating of the COVID-19 propaganda will lead us to the same place.

    Yes, COVID-19 is real.

You prevent it the same way you prevent yourself from getting the flu each year: basic hygene.

Remember: COVID-19 only impacts 2% of the population. Everyone else who gets it doesn't show any symptoms.

We know who the at risk people are: elderly and immuno-compromised. And they would be at risk for many other diseases no matter what.

We don't shut down the whole country and allow totalitarian "leaders" to dictate what we must do.

... A hundred years from now, none of us will give a damn.

what we are in denial about is how many other things kill many more people.
    we ignore these issues.

every healthy person has to get covid19 and get antibodies. that's the only way to somewhat eliminate the spread. hiding and taking precautions just allows it to go away and pop back in.

We don't shut down the whole country and allow totalitarian "leaders" to dictate what we must do.

So I agree with you; that @ the beginning, the demonization and pumping up of the virus was... dumb. Really, ignorant: we just didn't KNOW the facts, which we still don't know all of; but they really sold the virus as a KILLER way too much...

That being said, I think the sweeping shutdowns were TOO much... sure, some places needed intervention - like New York; but even there, they built those federal hosptials and brought the ship out - never to be used at all. SMH

I support intelligent shut downs when REALLY NEEDED - only because of hospital capacity issues - I don't think you let folks die because of being over capacity in hospitals - at THAT point, I'd support specific shutdowns to respond.

However, ALLLLL that being said... I just can't respect nor understand why theres TWO camps in America; those who are following the smart guidelines to curb spread, and those who are doing everything in their power to just... I don't even know what 'to just'...

'I'm not wearing a mask' is just stupid to me.

I think we should ALL be doing the common-sense, scientifically supported actions to slow the spread of corona.

Prudence is a lost attribute of modern society ... I ask people to just, please, wear a mask ... the numbers are irrefutable ... but here's a consideration, and, risking TMI, wear it for people like me; immune deficiency ... yes 99% of people will not get very ill, or will at least recover ... I don't want to be the 1%'er ... You know, I just posted to the guy you were responding to stating how he opened my eyes because I had been doing safe practices for personal, aka selfish, reasons...

Just wanted to state that I, also, respect those who don't think this is a huge issue; I respect that we're in America and we are free to live as we want.

I don't understand, however, folks who take your stance on doing the simple things that could protect others. IMO, the truth is either ya'll are right and this thing is no big deal... and it goes away. OR, the scientific minds are right and its going to continue to grow and really be bad; I know one other thing- If America *has* to, they WILL shut us down like we have never been shutdown in our lives...

ie; if it gets so bad that hospitals are over capacity and people are dying in hallways and streets, the fed WILL matrial law our land and REALLY take our rights away. It's simple, they will.

And I even lean on your side; that it probably won't get there, that we were sold way too strongly on this virus... and that it isn't as deadly as we were told.... however, I prefer to wear a mask... stay 6 feet away... and I PERSONALLY choose to try to just stay out of public more than normal - because 'giving up these' rights can protect us from REALLY losing all of them.

If Covid becomes deadly(ier), over capacity and out of control(er) in America, the fed will put an end to whats going on... THATs what I'm scared of..

And all of that said, I'm still happy we live in a country where I can choose what I think is right, and you can choose what you think is right - that is paramount... I'm just scared that this IS that virus.

giving up our freedom is a stupid thing to do. we wont shut us down again because it had NO affect. it did not save lives.

the ONLY smart thing to do is trust in your immune system.
if all the healthy people got the virus we would build up herd immunity.
it has to happen during the same time period.

at risk people should have been the people locked away for 2months.

this would have all blown over if we would have dealt with this issue correctly.

now covid-19 will keep popping up sporatically until god knows when.

ie; if it gets so bad that hospitals are over capacity and people are dying hallways and streets, the fed WILL matrial law our land and REALLY take our rights away. It's simple, they will.

why six feet away? why not 30 feet away?
honestly you should be wearing a hazmat suit to equal the amount of protection and prevention you feel you are portraying.

what I think is right, and you can choose what you think is right - that is paramount... I'm just scared that this IS that virus.

you are very uneducated about this virus and you can either live in fear or be smart like me.

people's lives were ruined and lives were lost. they didnt have covid-19. they had their companies destroyed from the shutdown or they died in rioting.

there are more bigger and badder things out there that are more deadly than covid-19. we ignore them.

reports of people being listed as "COVID" or "COVID DEATH" when that
was NOT even the cause of the death, or they aren't actually 'sick.'

I have in-laws that are in the high risk catagory, so I am of course
taking it seriously, but again I don't trust "the powers that be."
I don't think we're being told the entire truth, or at the very least
this 'crisis' is being used to pull liberties and make people MORE
    reliant on the government.

Just my opinion... Am I wearing a mask? When I am somewhere that it
is absolutely required of me. Am I washing and disenfecting? Of

as a KILLER way too much...

"Ignorant" I think is the correct word. We didn't know much about it and we were fed a great deal of bad information from sources that we trusted
(i.e. W.H.O.). Within weeks, though, we had much better information and we should have changed what we did to combat it, but we didn't.

However, ALLLLL that being said... I just can't respect nor understand
why theres TWO camps in America; those who are following the smart guidelines to curb spread, and those who are doing everything in their power to just... I don't even know what 'to just'...

The main problem was that COVID got politicized.

We had some politians who wanted "to keep people safe", so they had to LOOK like they were doing things to keep people safe - even though they weren't doing anything at all.

Then we had some people who abused emergency clauses (like here in Michigan)
to effectively claim dictatorial power and order people around.

'I'm not wearing a mask' is just stupid to me.

It's just the opposite to me.

I see people wearing "token" masks that wouldn't even filter dust let alone
a virus or a particle carrying a virus.

I see others who wear surgical masks - which won't protect you from a virus. They are only effective if you have the virus and sneeze on someone.

Then others wearing the high end masks - mostly incorrectly. But even the ones who do wear them correctly are restricting oxygen and aren't meant to be worn for the time that they are wearing them.

All for a virus that will impact less than 2% of the population.

98% of us don't need a mask. The 2% who do (and we know who they are) can wear one.

I think we should ALL be doing the common-sense, scientifically
supported actions to slow the spread of corona.

I agree. But we've already slowed the spread. We've almost reached herd immunity. Active cases are at an all time low. Deaths are almost done.

And that's on top of the fact that all COVID numbers are grossly inflated.
(We basically eradicated heart disease from March through June because hospitals
miscategorized heart attacks as COVID, for example.)

    wear a fucking mask already.
stay 6 feet away from everyone. Everyone.
    don't goto bars/parties/protests/POTUS RALLIES.
    etc etc etc.

That was in March. There's no science backing any of that up today.

I just don't understand the stupidity of 'you can't make ME'...

Because we all know that it's BS.

And we've all worked for at least one boss who took pleasure into making us give up something to do what they wanted. That's what our "leaders" are acting like now - taking pleasure in making us do things.

Protesting the unconstitutional use of the emergency order will spread COVID but a BLM "protest" won't? Everyone with a ounce of brains sees the
hypocracy in that. We simply don't believe what the "experts" (the
ones out, standing in their field) tell us anymore - because they've been consistently wrong.
